Multiple conductors with insulated sheaths are wrapped into a single jacketed cable in multicore cable. Multicore Felixble cable job is to avoid a tangled connection by using a single cable rather than 10 or more individual wires, by connecting them one at a time. A 3-phase cable cannot be called a multi-core cable, but a cable with two or more than two separate 3-phase conductors is a multicore cable.
The conductors are made of electrolytic grade copper that has been annealed and bunched together as per class 5 of IS 8130 : 2013. Multicore Felixble copper Cable are manufactured as per IS 694 : 2010 standards and are available from 0.25 Sq. mm to 400 Sq. mm
Types of Multicore Flexible Cables:
- Shielded Multicore Cable – Available with Braided Shield Cable and Foil Shield Cable
- Unshielded Multicore Cable
Applications of Multicore Felixble Cable:
- Computer Networking & Data centres
- Transmitting audio signal
- Camera control unit in studios to send Audio and Video signals
